Top 5 Film Quotes

I once received a job application questionnaire which alternated relevant technical questions with arbitrary questions that I assume were there to flesh out some personality, if there is one. For example, one of the questions was to write a limerick about a programming language. I don't recall what I wrote but I remember being impressed with the result.

Another question was to list my top 5 film quotes. I happened to be chatting to a couple of friends on Skype while I filling in the questionnaire and they both immediately came up with the quote from Jerry Maguire: "Show me the money" which I immediately shot down as I was sure that it was particularly inappropriate image to portray going into a job interview.

One film quote that I forgot to put on that interview sheet was from the film Broken Arrow:
"I don't know what's scarier, losing a nuclear weapon or that it happens so often there's actually a term for it."

What is your top film quote?

“Go ahead, make my day” Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry

I've only ever seen clips of the Dirty Harry movies (including that one) and even though they are decades old they are still on my list of "films to see." I just did a quick search on YouTube to see if I could find the "Go ahead, make my day" clip but no luck.

I did, however, find the "Do I feel lucky? Well do you, punk?" clip which I had heard before but never seen. Here it is:
Do you feel lucky punk?

Mike: Your personallity is mystery wrapped in an enigma and smothered with secret sauce. One minute you're quoting chick flicks here (Dirty Dancing I assume) and then next you're talking about Shooting prostitutes with a pellet gun.

Surprising to see that there isn't a clip for Clint's most famous quote...The one you found is a classic too.
I just thought of one more:
"Flankly, my dear, I don't give a damn!" Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) in Gone with the wind.

I agree - very surprised that it's not on YouTube. I confess that I have never seen Gone with the Wind although I think that someone tried to make me watch it once and it was the choice between spending the afternoon surfing or watching Gone with the Wind with this girl and I ended up spending the afternoon surfing. I'm a neanderthal aren't I?

Honestly????... Just kidding.
Maybe you’re not a Neanderthal after all. Being a beach enthusiast myself, I can’t be judgmental and so I think there might have been other factors that influenced your decision then (I’m only assuming):
1. The movie is too long (lasts 4 hours)
2. It’s kind of a chick flick
3. Not into her (When a man is, he would do almost anything)
4. Excellent weather and tide conditions only seen a few times a year

So there, not everyone has seen it and you shouldn’t work yourself up about it :)

4 hours long? That is long. I had heard that it was 3 hours long but now you've scared me off it forever.

The longest film that I've ever sat through in a movie was the directors cut of Dances with Wolves which was 3 hours and 50 minutes. I remember watching it in Leicester Square in London and sitting in the front row and having to get up and move about every now and then.

But I suppose if you split a 4 hour movie over 4 days with an hour a day like a series then it would be okay...

Huh... my favorite movie line is from a porn. Honestly, everytime I think about it I crack-up.

I'll tell you on Wednesday.
